About Iona

London-based milliner Iona Montgomery specializes in ladies occasion wear, designing and making bespoke hats and headdresses as well as selling her unique ready-to-wear collections.

Iona Montgomery Wedding headpieceIona started millinery at a young age, attending short courses at London College of fashion and gaining invaluable experience with society milliner Gina Foster whilst still at school.  Despite her fascination in millinery, she went onto university to study French.  While on her year abroad, Iona did a 10 month hat making internship at Maison Michel in Paris which not only increased her desire to continue millinery but also had a great impact on her style as a designer.  After university, Iona worked for renowned milliner Philip Treacy and Gina Foster before completing the prestigious HNC Millinery course at Kensington and Chelsea College with distinction and then deciding to set up on her own.

These experiences have helped develop Iona’s classic yet quirky style which reflects both luxe and dark romanticism.  Her hats and headdresses juxtapose traditional millinery techniques and innovative design.  In each design, Iona adapts and transforms classic shapes and styles in order to create an organic sense of movement.  It is this experimentation and sampling within each collection that allows Iona’s work to have not only a high quality finish, but also a unique aesthetic.

‘Sculptural femininity, Parisian sophistication’ is at the heart of Iona’s designs, representing ethereal luxury and delicate drama for the lady who wants to stand head and shoulders above the rest.

All Iona’s hats and fascinators are hand-made by her and her current ready-to-wear collections are available to order.  Designs can be customised to complement an outfit and Iona offers a bespoke millinery service from her studio in South-west London.
